Community Service

PittsburghHeritage.com
aSa is proud to play a part in preserving the unique heritage of our home in Western Pennsylvania. In fact, we developed an entire website dedicated to information and discussion of local heritage issues: www.PittsburghHeritage.com. The website contains information about preservation issues and projects, plus a message board for people to discuss heritage topics online. The site, developed by aSa as a community service project, was adopted and is now maintained by Preservation Pittsburgh, a grassroots organization dedicated to keeping the Pittsburgh area “Alive with Tradition.”

Glenn Joyce Memorial Fund
In honor of Glenn D. Joyce, vice president of aSa when he died suddenly in 1993, aSa has established a memorial fund in his name with the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute Foundation. This non-profit foundation provides scholarships to students studying in the fields of architecture, engineering, rebar estimating, and rebar detailing.

Industry Promotion
In addition to being an active member of the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute, aSa has donated resources to projects that benefit the reinforcing steel industry, including web development services for the CRSI Four Pillars Conference and many hours of work on CRSI’s Rebar Detailing Training Course.

aSa also supports a variety of community and charitable organizations through donations and advertisements in events program publications.
